Isha Talwar is an Indian actress and model who predominantly works in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Bollywood films industries. She started her career as a model and appeared in various commercials, and later made her film debut with the 2012 Mollywood film Thattathin Marayathu.

She was born on 22 December 1987 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of the Bollywood actor, director, and producer Vinod Talwar. She was raised in Mumbai and pursued her Undergraduate in Economics at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Due to her inclination toward dancing, she enrolled in Terence Lewis’ dance academy in 2004 and received professional training in certain dance forms like Ballet, Jazz, Hip-hop, and Salsa. After gaining expertise in all these dance forms, she served the academy as a dance tutor for a brief period. She terms her mentor Terence Lewis to be one person who changed her completely.

Career

Talwar made appearances in numerous television advertisement commercials, where she endorsed several brands like Pizza Hut, Vivel fairness cream, Dulux paints, Kaya skin clinic, and Dhatri fairness cream. During this period, she also shot a music video alongside Hrithik Roshan for the “Just Dance” competition. Her first silver screen appearance was in the year 2000 in the movie Humara Dil Aapke Paas hai, in which she had appeared as a child artist. Still, her actual full-time film debut happened to be with the 2012 Malayalam release, Thattathin Marayathu.

Talwar had a hard time preparing for the film, as she took a 4-month long voice training class and learned the Malayalam language and its dialect. She portrayed the role of Aisha, a Muslim girl who falls in love with a Hindu boy. The film was a blockbuster at the box office and was labelled one among the “Top five Malayalam films of 2012”. Her second film project was also a Malayalam movie titled “I Love Me,” She played the female protagonist alongside Unni Mukundan and Asif Ali.

In 2013, Talwar paved her way into Tollywood (Telugu film industry) and Kollywood (Tamil film industry). Her 2013 Telugu release was Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde, a box office success, and the Tamil release was Thillu Mullu, a comedy film that also performed well commercially. Talwar returned to Malayalam screens in 2014 with four back-to-back releases, titled Balyakalasakhi, Utsaha committee God’s Own Country, and Bangalore days. She has been seen in an extended cameo role in the Siddique Bhaskar directed “The Rascal.” Talwar’s latest releases have been the Salman Khan starer Tubelight, her Bollywood debut alongside Saif Ali Khan in Kaalakaandi, and the famous 2020 Amazon prime aired web series Mirzapur.
